Shayne resides in Port Alberni and lives and loves the west coast. He spends his time with his wife and 6 children in Port Alberni. Shayne is from Port Alberni and graduated from BCIT in 1999 as an Electronics Communication Technician. He started his career in Vancouver and returned in 2008 to raise his family in Port Alberni.
Being selected from his graduating class at BCIT to work for the Fraser Valley Health Region (now Fraser Health Authority) as their Telecommunications Technician on the second largest integrated voice network in Canada was a great start to the communications’ field. Shayne was involved with the NEAX users group and made contacts with similar network types within BC and Canada. After 2 years of working with FVHR, Shayne was asked to join BC Rail Communucations and Signals department as the Communications Coordinator. BC Rail had Canada’s largest integrated Voice, Data and Radio Network. As the youngest member of management, learning to integrate all 3 communication mediums and working in a fast-paced 24/7 business environment built a unique skillset for expediant troubleshooting, cost analysis and creating procedures for communication with both internal and external vendors. Through a site by site audit, he was responsible for over $300k in communications cost savings in his first year with BC Rail. He worked for BC Rail until the sale to CP Rail.
In 2004 Shayne joined 4th Utility and began his apprenticeship with the Industry Training Authority to attain the BC Electronics Communication Technician Journeyman’s Certificate. This was expedited as his feild experience allowed him to challenge and complete this 5 year apprenticeship by 2006. As a member of BICSI and trained in infrastructure design and implementation, Shayne was part of many projects including being a foreman on the replacement of the CRA main datasystems infrastructure in Vancouver, vast and complex installations at SFU campus and design and installation of client data access systems at ski resorts in BC and Alberta to name a few. He first took leave in 2004 to contract to Ahousaht. He remained an asset to 4th Utility for an additional year after moving back to the island.
Shayne continued working with First Nations in 2005 and after working on both the west coast and projects from Kicking Horse Pass to Victoria, decided to return to Port Alberni in 2008. Here he worked with another contractor to complete the routed network for the City of Port Alberni to connect the RCMP, Echo, City Works, Fire Department and Arena that is still in use today. After completing this project as a contractor, Shayne worked for the City’s IT department as a Support Specialist for just over a year, after which he returned to contracting to local business and First Nations.
He enjoys mountian biking with his family, fishing and exploring the local backcountry.

He is an alumni of Vancouver Island University where he obtained a B. Sc. Degree in Computing Science and a Diploma in Information Technology and Applied Systems. Installer/Systems Administrator
Trevor Rehill recently moved to Port Alberni to raise his young children in proximity of the ocean. A 12 year career in Vancouver’s film industry as a Lighting Technician had taught him a great deal about a vast array of systems and concepts. Electrical installations, digital lighting consoles, networked LED fixtures, repairing specialty and household appliances, structural designs for rigging, driving heavy equipment and most of all, coiling cable. With a growing family he felt it was time for a change and a chance to pursue a lifelong interest in computer sciences.
Lucky to have had a home computer from an early age, it has always been a part of his life. Installing and playing games as a kid, helping classmates learn their work in elementary school, digital animation in high school and high end video editing software in college. One of Trevor’s first jobs in the film industry was at a casting studio managing AV equipment, editing and uploading auditions to the ad agency’s servers. Now, working with the team here, he’s able to exercise these computer skills and find new challenges with which to test himself. With an eye for detail, and a master of creative and clean installations on movie ad TV sets, IT installations make a great fit.
While not working, Trevor explores the west coast sailing with his family, hiking, camping, motorcycling, and surfing. One day he hopes to retire and sail across the sea with his wife. Until then he enjoys adventuring close to home and finding new places to sit and look at the view.
